That assumes absent the 25th Amendment Nixon keeps Agnew for a second term. Nixon had his doubts about Agnew, but secure in the knowledge that if his suspicions caused Agnew to have to resign, he chose not to undertake the potentially politically damaging course of changing his running mate for his second term. Without the 25th Amendment Nixon probably chooses a second VP for his second term.
