I'm not certain that this bill would have any effect.  DDT is certainly not under any explicit ban in the U.S.Code but I do know that we have exported chemicals not authorized for use in this country.  (DDT is referenced so many times in the CFR that I do not feel like  I can't find anything other than John Ford's unreferenced assertion that we have ever banned the export of DDT or imposed sanctions on other countries for using it. We do have restrictions on importing agricultural products with DDT (and other pesticide) residues, and the USAID does generally favor other approaches, such as insecticide treated sleeping nets, for malarial control with its funding, largely on the basis of cost and effectiveness according to it.

Unless someone can show me that this bill will have any actual effect, I will be voting against it simply to avoid cluttering our statutes with a redundant law.
