Can you imagine Trump ever telling his children he loves them?

I can, just not in a non-creepy, non-sex offender way.

Trump is far too polarizing for this, the only way Biden was to lose was to get Ukraine in the media, but Covid took over

Well that’s quite the revisionist history.

Before Covid, Trump was on path to an incredibly easy re-election: Incredible economy, domestic peace, end of foreign wars. The economy though was (still is all things considered) on fire. Was a sure bet at re-election.

He was on a path for possible reelection, not easy reelection.

After all, he'd made the U.S. be seen as a spoiled brat of a country that couldn't be trusted. He, put our fiscal situation in an unsustainable situation, with trillion dollar deficits projected even before COVID-19 tanked the economy.  Most importantly, he wasn't going to face Hillary in 2020, and he lost to her in the PV, and only won because of the quirks of our Electoral College.  His potential paths to reelection, even before COVID-19, depended upon how the Electoral College works, which incidentally, is totally unlike how the Founders imagined it would when they met in Philadelphia to draft the Constitution.

Anyone who was always guaranteed to lose the PV this year cannot by any stretch of the imagination be said to have been off to an easy reelection. Keep in mind that a less than 1% uniform change in the margin in 2016 would have seen Trump losing.
