I am particularly concerned that by modifying a clause within the Constitution we will modify the meaning of the rest of the clause by seemingly detaching payment of wages from commerce. This is something that I wish to avoid as we may provide an excuse for the Supreme Court to detach the entirity of labour from the meaning of commerce.

While I dissented from that opinion, The majority opinion in Bono v, Atlasia II held

So the court recognized labor as "commerce" but not as an "item of commerce" in a hair-splitting twisting of words beyond their plain meaning worthy of the real Supreme Court.
