I would have thought you would have already learned from experience the futility of predicting that certain events will have a major impact on Trump's polling numbers.  I'm not surprised you think you own this thread.  Granted, you are a major contributor to this thread, largely because no one else cares to compile the numbers, and I thank you for that.  Everyone should have at least one obsession in their life and yours is at least marginally useful to others.

You tried to end 1.4 early; so far, you're the only one who thinks the next in the series should not be 1.5; and you apparently started your "1.6" several pages early just so you could set the number to be you think it should be.  I don't see any better term than "own" to indicate what you apparently think your relationship to it is.

Except that even if Democrats decide to drop it, Trump won't because of his ego. Perhaps because he never expected to win, he hates the idea that outside factors were what got him the victory. He can't accept the idea that he won because of luck.

Quinnipiac, July 25-28, 1306 RV (change from early June)

Approve 40 (-2)
Disapprove 54 (+1)

Strongly approve 28 (-1)
Strongly disapprove 47 (+1)

2020 (change from May):

Definitely vote for Trump 32 (+1)
Consider voting for Trump 12 (nc)
Definitely not vote for Trump 54 (nc)

Given how much insanity he's shown in the past few days, this is still a shockingly high number even though a bad sign for anyone with reelection hopes. But I guess some of his supporters are just irredeemable. They would still support him even if he openly said "yes, I am a racist".

No they wouldn't, because they mostly don't want to believe their "truth" is racist. The last thing most of his supporters want is for Trump to say he believes what he believes because he's a racist. The last thing most of them want to do is confront that many of their beliefs are shared with those who openly espouse racism.

Unhappy with the result, Trump says there is "something going on" with the Fox poll:

Quote
"Well, Fox has always given me -- I'll tell you, Fox is a lot different than it used to be, I can tell you that. ... Fox has changed. And my worst polls have always been from Fox. There's something going on at Fox, I'll tell you right now. And I'm not happy with it."

https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/19/politics/donald-trump-fox-news/index.html

As I posted in another thread, this is the Trump filter:

Good numbers for Trump = real.  Bad numbers for Trump = fake.

It applies to polls, economic news, or anything else.

The delusion isn't limited to Trump himself, but to many of his supporters.  I just don't get the madness.  It's got to be some kind of mental illness on those supporters who claim falsehoods at fact.

Call it bubble think, a particularly virulent version of groupthink.

When you spend all your time listening to likeminded people, it can be difficult to believe that those outside your bubble don't also share the bubble's views.

Interesting that definitely vote against Trump is higher than his disapprovals. So there are people who approve of Trump who are definitely voting against him....

I can easily believe there are people who approve of the job he's done and are unwilling to vote for him because of his lack of basic humanity.
