I had lunch at a place styling itself "Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse". No idea what made it specifically Brazilian. Maybe it was the Brazilian-style collard greens on the salad/hot bar, whatever that meant. Still, it was a nice enough place, so I could see going there again the next time I head to downtown Columbia. Went there today to see the documentary Compromised at the Nickelodeon, our local art theatre. It's a recently completed film about the 2000 compromise that brought the Confederate flag down from the dome to where it is now on the State House grounds that was added as a fund raiser for Emanuel AME. Unfortunately, they'd sold out, so I didn't get to see it with my girlfriend.

SIGH.

Jury duty.

AGAIN.

Most people I know only get stuck with jury duty once or twice in their lives.  I've had the pleasure so many times, I've lost count.  At least it's only municipal court.

Just got back from an enjoyable vacation with my girlfriend's family. Only real complaint is from where I stopped for lunch on the way back. I now have a sufficient sample size to make a generalization. Denny's are okay as stand alone restaurants, but I'll never eat at another one colocated with a Flying J. The service is bad and the food ain't as good as the Denny's that have to get repeat business from locals to survive. Once could have been the individual restaurant, twice is enough to establish a trend, especially when the difference in quality is so obvious compared to the stand alone ones.

Did my once every couple of months trip to the metal broker this morning with several months worth of aluminum cans. (I've got the space to store them until I have a carful.)  Price was down considerably tho.  I got 55¢/lb last time and only 35¢/lb. Hardly worth the effort, except the amount of effort is practically nil. The only real cost is space.  If I feel the lack of space when I move soon, I'll stop worrying about scrounging a few extra cents.

Housing, housing, housing.  My mom's old house is finally getting sold, which means her estate can be closed. Coincidentally, pending the results of the inspection, I'll soon be the owner of mine own house and get to have the fun of running my intended landscaping projects by the HOA's Architectural Control Council.  The HOA covenant was full of all sorts of general purpose boilerplate that had nothing to do with the community I'm moving into. That's a shame as I was looking forward to the beach and the lake that were mentioned. 😇

My long ammonia nightmare is nearing an end. I recently bought a house, but the previous owner was a smoker. The walls are in reasonably good shape otherwise, with nice wallpaper in some rooms underneath the nicotine stains, so I've been washing the walls. Three buckets and two sponges make for an interesting combo. (Two small ones for the ammonia water and the water to rinse that sponge and a large bucket of warm water for a second sponge to go back and rinse the ammonia residue off.)

Breaking a tooth on a Friday evening is bad, but unless you live way out in the boondocks, Marokai, you should be able to find a dentist that does Saturday emergencies, tho they might be pricier than your regular dentist.

Haven't floated away.

Yet.

Seriously, we've had over a foot of rain here in the past twenty four hours.

Nah, ISIL, will turn the Goodrich blimp into a bomb to use against the Super Bowl only to discover that us decadent Americans put rooves on our stadia.

This is where we detail our lives and critique those of others. 'Less boring, more 'whorin.
So, would you say that it's like a...Social Thread?

As for my situation, apparently the reason my boss went crazy yesterday is because he was the victim of a robbery of some sort.

New news is more mundane, I have to find a place that will let me throw out a TV.
Does it still work? If it does, you might be able to donate it?

Probably not if it's an old tube TV.  Not even thrift stores want those around here.

Local jewelry store was going to have someone in tomorrow with a bunch of extra stones for making special rings, but the weather put the kibosh on that, and it won't be rescheduled until April, well after Valentine's Day, so they may well have lost a sale as I'm not waiting that long.

I've decided to go back to my traditional Hindu roots and become a vegetarian.
I'll be going vegetarian, tho not vegan, for Lent again this year. Thankfully, Sundays are in Lent rather than of Lent as I'm not the one making Sunday dinner so I won't have to make a spectacle of not eating the main dish for multiple weeks in a row.

Well, don't head into the basement. People who spend all their time in basements have weakened immune systems, regardless of whether it's because they're held prisoner there or just hiding from mommie and the rest of the real world by being down there.

I passed a Cruz bus heading the opposite way on I-26 as I headed to church this morning.  No idea if he was on his was to an event in Columbia after doing one in the upstate this morning or if the bus was being moved empty.  Possibly someone who cares about his schedule could tell me.
