First off, the word was repeatedly used by an employer in a derogatory fashion directed at his employee so this is workplace harassment regardless. Also on the race issue, this "Black Man" is a black Puerto Rican which is a bit different racially and culturally than if he was African American like his employee.
But more importantly guys this award was granted by a jury, not by a judge, so if you're going to attack that then you're attacking a freedom guaranteed to all americans by the bill of rights
What about freedom of speech?
