Everyone should have a federally-issued ID, as in Europe. And everyone should be automatically registered to vote at 18. End of story.

This is America. We do things our way. It doesn't need to make sense. Actually, its not supposed to make sense!
No what is ridiculous is that after for decades of being against mandatory government-issued ID, the Republicans are now in favor of mandating that people have them, but not that government be required to issue them.
