Chapter 9 bankruptcy is the proper venue for bankrupt cities, not Federal largess that we can't afford anyway.

dude as smart as you drinks the kool-aid?

Dude, someone has to pay the piper.  I'd prefer it if it were the people who enjoyed the music while it lasted.  Also I do not care for the Federal government stepping to let State and local politicians boast that they are keeping taxes low and balancing the budget while adding to the Federal debt.  In addition,transfer payments from the Federal government to State and local governments generally need to stop  Either completely Federalize the program or let the States deal with it themselves including both the funding and the spending.
