Smart move. The debate is still happening but McCain gets to claim that he offered to "put politics aside."

I really hope McCain doesn't show up to the debate. that would be hilarious.

He wouldn't do that but if he did, it wouldn't matter anyway. The networks wouldn't cover Obama vs. podium.

"I'm not going to go behind closed doors in Washington... I'm gonna explain my economic ideas to the American people"

WIN

"I'm refusing to do my job. That's not surprising, considering my record as a State Senator."

Further proof that John McCain is an erratic and crazy old man. What a joke.

Roll Eyes

This is far from erratic or crazy.

Put down the Kool-Aid Phil.

Look whose talking.

It's one thing to think this was a dumb move but it's not erratic. Don't be too pissed that Obama didn't propose it first.

As I said elsewhere, most Americans weren't even home from work during the time that they conducted this poll. It has to be one of the biggest jokes in terms of polling I've witnessed.

There was zero indication from the campaign that he was going to do this. He was practicing for the debate as recently as yesterday. They've had events and ad buys planned for months. And now suddenly... OMG WE HAVE TO STOP EVERYTHING.

This is one of the silliest things I've ever heard.

You mean things don't happen all of the sudden while you're President?

I'm sorry but should the McCain campaign give the Obama people advance notice everytime he does something? Is that what you guys need to prove that he's not "erratic?"

And what does having events and ad buys for months have to do with anything? This suddenly happened. We didn't know this would happen months ago, genius. We had to postpone our convention because of a hurricane. Or should we have known about that, too?  Roll Eyes

The Senate doesn't need John McCain around to help them pass this. Most of his colleagues don't even like him.

LOL

I'm sorry...did you want me to take this as a serious argument? You've got a few loose up there, buddy!

Ok but that doesn't make it erratic. Again, don't be pissy because your guy didn't have the political upper hand here. We already know Barack is acting that way himself. "I called him first!"

How is this a "political stunt" and also "bizzare" and "random?" Political stunts like this aren't bizzare. Someone here is extremely bitter...

Are you being serious? Look at the quotes from even his Republican colleagues bucko... he's an angry man who doesn't play well with others. I know you don't like to hear that about your Messiah...

I'm asking if you're serious because that's not even relevant. I guess he shouldn't do his job because some colleagues don't like him?

Again, a few screws loose up there, pal...

...

Did the campaign plan take into account a market crash?

I'm supposed to believe you're involved in politics and yet you act surprised when strategy changes. Wow.

He's claiming that he called McCain "first." It's on the news. Check that out sometime.

Again, because you (the opposition) weren't made aware, that's supposed to be a bad thing?

The reason it's relevant is that McCain and his minions are making it sound like he's going to run back to Washington and fix everything, when the reality is that McCain isn't as nearly an important player in the Senate as he likes to make himself out to be, and part of the reason is that a lot of his colleagues personally dislike him.

...

Or he's doing his job. You're being extremely hackish with this "He isn't important" nonsense.

Ok, you don't find it necessary. What do you care?

I didn't say what he called about. All we see is Obama saying, "I called him first!" It sounds whiney.

Pal, I understand what you're saying. You're mad because he made a change in his campaign strategy without telling anyone.

Do you want a phone call on our GOTV efforts, too?

So concerned with his job that he's missed something like 60% of the votes while campaigning? He's using his job for political gain. I'm not saying he shouldn't (Obama does as well), but you shouldn't try to pass this off as him doing his electoral duty. It's him seeing an opportunity and trying to gain from it.

And how many votes has Obama missed? If anything, this is making up for those missed votes. Obama isn't doing that.

And this isn't his "electoral" duty; it's his Senatorial duty. Whether it is being done for political gain or not shouldn't matter. They all use it for political gain at some point.

Well, I don't know who "Frank" is but I wouldn't exactly care what Reid has to say on the issue. Of course he's going to say he doesn't care what McCain thinks, genius! He's the (ineffective) leader of the other side!

It's not "crazy" though. It was a campaign decision that you happen to dislike.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Obama can be (and I believe is) angry that he didn't propose it first and now he's whining.

Again, if you used basic reading comprehension skills...

I don't think you sat down with the man during a campaign strategy session so unless you have proof that he just came up with the idea and rushed into it without advisors commenting on it, hush up.
