61% reporting

McCain still by three - 33-30.

One coastal county (the one with Mrtyle Beach) still hasn't reported. MCain won all coastal counties in 2000.

Might it be better for McCain if Thompson stayed in until after Florida?

Fred probably doesn't help as much in Florida as he has in South Carolina.

Has Gov. Mark Sanford ever given a reason why he did not endorse McCain?

I was watching him on CNN or MSNBC the other day. He said had a lot on his plate as Governor and with his family so he couldn't committ to doing what he did in 2000. Still, he could have made a simple statement of endorsement so his reasoning it's great. Why he really didn't endorse? He's the Governor. He wants to stay neutral. It's smart to do that. I don't know why he just didn't say that.

If McCain is the nominee, next to Romney, my choice for Vice President would be Senator Mark Sanford of South Carolina.

I have named Sanford as my pick for VP several times previously in other threads.

Sanford is also my pick for VP if Romney is the Presidential nominee.

Sanford is the Governor.
