I think we all know what would have happened if someone had said, "I am first a Muslim/Hindu/Jew and then an American citizen."

That statement was about the one respectable, worthwhile thing quoted from the anti-Mosque crowd in the entire article. Even though the logic to take that statement as grounds to prevent the Mosque from opening are totally wrong, the statement itself is, I admit, rather refreshing.
