AOC: We're in a pandemic and an economic downturn. Poor communities were given a $1,200 check in March to survive, with no rent control and a brief moratorium on evictions. NYPD is still getting $6B, there was no cut. Education funding, however, IS being cut, housing assistance is nonexistent, there's a hiring freeze on public workers (except police), and 1 in 6 children in the city school system are homeless. More police funding is not going to fix crime. Fund these communities and crime will go down.
