No one has gone negative on Sanders yet.  No one.

I find this line of thought hilarious. You must have been dead asleep for the past year if you believe Sanders hasn't received a great deal of negative criticism from politicians and those in the press who consider his policy proposals dangerous. Fox News consistently refers him as 'the socialist' and Clinton News Network anchors hits him repeatedly on his 'expensive' programs. Yet, as per polling, most Americans don't seem too off-put by what he talks about and may even be in favor of his proposals.

Obviously if they doubled-down on critiquing Sanders it would affect the race, but so many of the factors that draw people to Trump (appearing genuine, against status quo, outsider persona) I feel would benefit Sanders in the general and make Trump's negatives seem way more clear.
