What? FPO is that, surely? Austrian politics, if anything, has too many right-wing variants on offer.

There's gotta be a contingent more akin to the Labour>BNP or FN>FdG type as well; ie working class support voting for what they deem the best alternative to orthodox solutions, but I suppose FPO is more shamelessly pro-business than those two.

I'd think that says more about how ridiculous healthcare privatisation is seen in much of the world than any leftist economics on their part (for what it's worth UKIP - unless it's now obsolete - also oppose tuition fees). BZO was created with further neoliberalism in mind, what's wrong with their social policies - they're reactionary, no?

I stand corrected then; haven't looked into it - think it was figures on here that actually made me think so in the first place. For what it's worth I'm not totally convinced by the regular suggestion made that most of BNPs support comes from Labour, presumably because it's found in Labour areas. Think it's largely just replaced the working-class Tory voters which have collapsed in these parts. Although having heard BNP types talk nostalgically about old Labour, there's some truth to it.

Guessing that's the fault of low sample sizes taken from cross-breaks?

26-52  [-26] Barbara Rosenkranz (FPÖ)
18-58  [-40] Frank Stronach (Team Stronach)

The ratings for Stronach are quite impressive - in a very negative way - considering that he does 14 points worse than the FPÖ/Neo-Nazi Presidential candidate from 2010 - Rosenkranz.

LOL. Justice.

Breaking News:

NEOS, LIF and the Young Liberals have decided to merge and run together in the fall parliamentary election.

Wealthy businessman Hans-Peter Haselsteiner, who was a LIF MP already in the 90s, has agreed to back the new liberal party with a ton of money in the coming months.

His wealth is ca. 760 Mio. € (1 Bio. $)

The new party will be named "NEOS" and the colour "pink" will be used for the party.

NEOS-leader Matthias Strolz and LIF-leader Angelika Mlinar will be the front-runners and a joint program will be presented in the coming months.

http://derstandard.at/1362107934418/LIF-ging-mit-NEOS-Buendnis-ein

...

The LIF was strong in the 90s after the split with the FPÖ and it was even in Parliament, but since then declined and only got 2% in 2008.

Liberal powers are not really welcome in Austria it seems, but we'll see how the new party will do in the fall. Could do pretty well in Vienna and the bigger cities.

Ha. Austria's really crying out for yet more neoliberals.

Frischer Wind? It means Fresh Wind, or it's bad pun on its leader name?

Fresh Wind, yes.

The leader from the BZÖ is named Robert Stark and the FW leader is named Helmut Naderer.

287 Grüne
279 Liste Fritz
205 SPÖ
171 Gurgiser & Team
100 vorwärts Tirol
90 Team Stronach
15 FPÖ
-127 Tiroler VP

From what I could understand via Google translate. Has to be said, I only recognise half of the parties, so I'm not sure what it's telling me beyond the Greens being best suited.

Mainly these three:

Sollen in Salzburg ganztägige Schulformen stärker ausgebaut werden?
Sollen in Salzburg neue Skigebiete erschlossen werden?
Soll der Wachstumsfonds des Landes Salzburg aufgelöst werden?

Although I wasn't sure if I understood the context of these:
Soll die Neubesetzung von Spitzenpositionen der Salzburger Landesverwaltung zeitlich beschränkt werden?
Soll das Land Salzburg bei stationären Pflegefällen Angehörigen-Beiträge einführen?
Soll das Land Salzburg angesichts steigender Treibstoffpreise kostengünstige Tankstellen anbieten?
Sollen durch ein Verfassungsgesetz alle Finanzen des Landes Salzburg gegenüber dem Bundesrechnungshof offengelegt werden?

Thanks for that^, I'd forgotten who all the acronyms were, and what their political allegiances were and thanks for answering the questions earlier (they didn't have much effect on my answers in the end - I'd presumed correctly).

The left were never going to be competitive, so not a bad result all said and done. I wonder, did the left win more seats with their quarter united under SPÖ then they are split between them and the Greens, and would they entertain coalitions with the ÖVP back then (ignoring the ÖVP didn't need to most of the time)?

You can't fault Austrian media for their graphics.

That German wiki link will be very helpful, ta.

Yours is within .5 of mine now, with the exception of the Greens who you notably predict to do better.

Yeah, I was going to mention that remarkable gender gap.

Salzburg was a testament to PR - SPÖ collapse and all but one seat went to the Greens. If the voters tried to punish their party here, they'd just end up punishing themselves with a landslide for the Right.

Well the best you could hope for in Tyrol would be a minority ÖVP, but even then wouldn't ÖVP just bring in that former ÖVP List or even worse, FPÖ? It might be bad for the SPÖ, but from a leftist point of view, the Greens joining government wasn't a bad decision - and I'm not someone often found defending Greens propping up the Right (actually find it more disgusting a prospect than grand coalitions, seeing as though most Greens stand as leftist).

NEOS has held their online primaries at the end of April and Gamon came in 8th.

Which means she has virtually no chance of entering parliament after Sept. 29, because if NEOS gets above the 4% threshold, it would get 7 seats. And this is even without the state lists.

Cheesy Justice.

Cheesy Course he would. Are any of his voters under the delusion that his party isn't just there for the filthy rich like himself?
