My family and I are all immigrants, naturalized in 07.. My parents voted for 2008, mom waited 5 hours in line to happily vote for Obama and my father voted as well for Obama. 2012 is my first election. When we first got here we we're receptive to both sides but as time went on the family felt the Republican party and its members are unwelcoming and not as tolerate socially and progressive economically as the Dems. Also, aunts and uncles all voted Democrat save one uncle who voted for Bush in 00 over gun control. Since then they've voted Dem straight in presidential and congressional.

The more I read the voting histories of family members the more amazed I am that Kerry lost and Obama managed to win.
