Swann is a charismatic, eloquent speaker who can appeal to the Reagan Democrats and Soccer Moms without angering the GOP base.

No. He's pretty much a fool that has been propped up by the White House to run against Rendell. Pennsylvania is still a huge target for Republicans because they think they can turn this state red.

I don't believe this poll at all. From all I've heard from Republicans in this area, there are some Swann fans, but most are not excited by him at all. I'm shocked Swann is polling this high and I just do not see it. Swann is just not going to do it, and after he gets beaten in the debates by Rendell...more people will begin to realize that.

My mom, a die-hard Democrat who lives in the Philly suburbs, will be voting for Swann this year because of Act 72. I bet she'll be the only woman with a Lois Murphy, Bob Casey and Lynn Swann sign on her lawn. Smiley

Where does she live in suburban Philly? (PA-6 I'm guessing Wink)

She lives in PA-6, the home of two consecutive 51%-49% House races.

Glad to see she's voting for Lois!  I met a few of her staffers, but not her yet.  Why would anyone vote for Lynn Swann?  He is a stupid sports commentator with no experience.  This looks like Arnold Part Deux.

She's angry at him over the casinos and the cuts in Medicaid. In their attempts to reach out to fiscal conservatives, Bredesen and Rendell have alienated poor seniors and people with a social conscience.

How so? Under Rendell, the rolls of Pennsylvania's medicaid program have actually increased by hundreds of thousands of seniors, reversing a long standing decline.
