I never considered RFK as a Libertarian, but hey, if Gravel could run credibly for their nomination in '08 at the Ron Paul movement's peak, than I guess RFK can too.

I'm also pleasantly surprised at how well things are going for Brother West. I would probably vote for him if we don't run Vivek or Trump.

Lastly, what party do you think Nina Turner will be running under? Democrat, Peoples, Green, or as Cornell's VP? She's got a big announcement coming.

Maybe he should drop out completely and focus on paying his late taxes and delinquent child support.
Hunter is not running.

I'm sure there are plenty of "anybody but Biden" protest votes. If she's still on the ballot come primary season, it's very likely people will vote for her by default.

I wonder if she will be. Her campaign has been running on fumes for a while now, I'd be surprised if she even makes it to the primaries at this point.
I wouldn't be surprised if come December some late entry (like a Dean Phillips) gets in the race and totally replaces Williamson and RFK Jr. as the Democratic alternative to Biden.

The SPUSA will nominate a candidate next month according to SG, it is still unknown if the Greens are going to try and court their vote. Previously SPUSA was angry at Hawkins over not reforming the Greens to their liking, and with Hawkins and West out it will be seen what they and SAlt for that matter does.
The SPUSA is a weird party. I've been on Atlas for, what, ten years now, and every time they nominate a ticket it seems to come out of the blue. I've never heard of a Socialist Party candidate declaring their intent to run before the convention like Green or Libertarian candidates do.

Ofc the SPUSA is completely irrelevant these days and has been for decades, so I guess them just drawing names of party members out of a hat at the convention makes sense.

Didn't Cindy Sheehan try and run on their ticket in 2016 but was rejected because she wasn't a dues-paying member?

I was briefly a member of the SPUSA - spoke to 2016 Presidential candidate Mimi Soltysik prior to his death on a Zoom call. Still have my membership card, though it's been expired for years.

I'm definitely interested in seeing who they run, and it's perhaps important to add this: back in 2016, Mimi Soltysik did get write-in access here in Indiana, whereas Gloria La Riva (PSL) didn't, so if the SPUSA gets write-in access here again while Claudia De la Cruz doesn't, I'll be curious as to why that is.

Also, on a site-note, Monica Moorehead (Workers World Party) also got write-in access here, and given that the PSL is much larger than the WWP, it does make me wonder what they're hang-up is.
Mimi Soltysik died? That's sad, he looked young.

Williamson only brought in $825K last quarter, and she spent more than that. Not sure how much longer she can keep this grift going

Interesting, but this probably warrants it's own thread.

I've heard of both Moore (a Floridian) and Chester before. I didn't expect either of them to be candidates again due to their relatively old ages.

Brian Moore doing a reverse Howie Hawkins is interesting.

Here's an excerpt from the Vanity Fair article the favorite son idea was proposed in.

Quote
But there is another option. That is: No Labels makes good on its pledge to ensure that Trump is not elected. By denying him victory in one or more of the key swing states. By putting a Republican No Labels candidate on the ballot, but only in those pivotal states. Imagine a favorite son or daughter approach. In other words: backing a willing Republican who is particularly popular in a battleground state. For example: Pat McCrory in North Carolina. Doug Ducey in Arizona. Brian Kemp in Georgia. Mitt Romney in Nevada. Paul Ryan in Wisconsin. Tom Ridge in Pennsylvania. John Engler in Michigan. Or how about Liz Cheney in any or all of them? You know she’d be game to push a big stick into Trump’s electoral spokes.
The average American voter is smarter than all of the people at No Labels, and would realize that this strategy is a ridiculous way to waste a vote.

Libertarians had a great night on the 7th, so they could in theory do really well on Election Day.
They did? How so? I didn't hear about any strong Libertarian candidates running anywhere.

No Labels is canceling their planned in-person convention and going virtual:

Not exactly a sign of confidence on their part.
Literally Americans Elect 2.0 at this point.

Can't wait to see how the QAnon freaks spin this one!

RFK Junior is a certified loony. Adding on predator makes sense.
His past behavior, which to his credit he has addressed openly, frequently, and has owned up too, seems to suggest that there is room for more weirdness in the sexual arena than we know of. I say that as someone who for the most part actually likes RFK Jr.

West threatens to peel off Arab American voters in Michigan

Quote
The independent candidate campaigned in Michigan this week to offer Arab American voters angry over the Israel-Hamas conflict a new political home in 2024. In Dearborn, a majority Arab American suburb of Detroit, West hosted several roundtable meetings with donors, local political organizers and Muslim community leaders, who wanted to hear West’s positions on Gaza

https://www.politico.com/news/2023/12/22/cornel-west-arab-american-vote-00133137

I'm asking how many voters Cornell West will receive in November 2024 ?

Depends on where he manages to get on the ballot. His campaign does not appear to be taking ballot access particularly seriously, as far as I can tell.
The real question is whether Jill Stein or not will get those votes, not West Tongue

At this point, West should drop out and run for VP with Stein. It'd make more sense than what he's doing now.

No one but the media and some Bernouts care about Cornel West. He’ll be as impactful as Jesse Ventura.

I think a lot of people haven't quite realized that given that West is way more telegenic, famous at least within a certain sphere, and better at giving a good quote than Jill Stein. That said, you're absolutely right that Cornel West is running a Potemkin campaign and won't be on the ballot basically anywhere while Jill Stein will be on the ballot in many relevant states.

Shorter answer: Arab-Americans in Michigan upset with Biden won't be threatening to vote for West, they'll be threatening to vote for Stein or RFK Jr. (Honestly starting to revise my early skepticism of RFK as he's proven to be more serious about this than he originally did and think he might be a way bigger factor than I initially thought)
West will ultimately be out of the race entirely, because I don't think supporters will fund a campaign that isn't even trying to gain ballot access. Cornell West is basically Roseanne Barr 2.0 at this point.

I still don't understand why he didn't just stay with the Greens?

No Labels, more like no candidates. They're cooked. Might as well give that valuable ballot access to a RFK Jr. / Cornel West ticket since none of their prized prospects actually wants to run for them.
Or, alternatively, this could mean that Manchin has agreed to run and has cleared the field for No Labels. But I agree that No Labels is turning into Americans Elect 2.0.

this is the latest ballot access for the green party/jill stein. the yellow states' window for petitioning hasnt opened yet. oklahoma is the infamously difficult state requiring either 35k signatures or a $35k filing fee. jill is also slowly but surely on her way to matching funds (she needs $5,000 in small donations from 20 states; she has met that in 6 states already and the next 13 are all over $2,500)

Her map only shows 19 states + DC with ballot access, not 20 as she claims ...
Don’t be pedantic. She clearly counted DC as a state. It’s easier than saying “we’re on the ballot in 19 states and one federal district.”

Cornel West raised $140k in January, spent $124k. Only has $103k COH

https://x.com/CATargetBot0001/status/1760155060254941190?s=20

RFK raised $2.7M, spent $3.3M. Has $4.8M COH

https://twitter.com/CATargetBot0001/status/1760011630128267395

These are not serious campaigns.
Cornell West isn't making it to the general election, but dismiss RFK at your own risk.

Claudia de la Cruz (PSL) wins P&F primary in CA, beating Cornell West 45-40%. That's a major blow to his ballot access efforts.
