I’m sick and tired of the “your ancestors were immigrants tooz” argument. My only recent immigrant ancestor in my entire family came here from Sicily in the early 1900s. Italy was a respected, stable country at that time as it is now. He wasn’t fleeing crime or repression, as Italy wasn’t one of the sh*thole countries at the time. It’s like watching The Godfather II’s opening scene and assuming it is real life. My great-grandfather actually has something to offer this country when he arrived.

The rest of my family have been here since the days of New Amsterdam.

The election of Trump has caused most of the red avatars' debating skills to lapse.

The attrition of left-wing posters like King, bedstuy, etc. to AAD also likely played a role here.

Why would they go there? AAD is way worse than regular Atlas. Hell, a few months ago people were messaging me on Facebook begging me to join because AAD was dying.

OCMS is more folk/bluegrass than country. Someone who likes bro-country isn't going to like Gillian Welch or OCMS. You certainly never see young people at a bluegrass festival unless they're me or in the band.

Actually, in my view at least, yes. Truegrassers might sneer but I've never had nor heard any complaints.

The idea of having a cat or dog in your house just sounds terrible.  I don't particularly get the appeal of a guinea pig, fish, or something like that, but they are at least contained.  A cat or dog is essentially a wild animal that climbs on you and barks at you when you are trying to relax.  I could never deal with that.

I will never ever own a pet of my own. Animals don't excite me enough to go about doing all the tasks necessary to have and take of a pet. If I marry and have children, I'd maybe get a dog, on the condition that all the work required is done by them.

I agreed until 2016, when they nominated the sad Johnson/Weld ticket over the even douchier "truh libertarian" candidate Austin Peterson. The 2016 Libertarian field was just plain sad, and 2020 looks no better.

I agree, but it's worth noting that Johnson ran as a Ron Paul style Libertarian in 2012. If he had run on the same platform in 2016, he'd have done considerably better. Gary Johnson 2016 was markedly different than Gary Johnson in 2012.
