If she plans to abolish the holiday entirely and make Election Day a federal holiday/day off work or school.

I support this whole-heartedly. In Puerto Rico, Election Day is a holiday.
It'd give the American people a day off in the lead up to Thanksgiving (which also makes an extra opportunity for Thanksgiving preparation/Christmas shopping), increases turnout and the ability of the candidates to reach more people in last minute advertising/appearances. It's accomplish more than "Native American Day."

That would be devastating to tourism in New England. I would support renaming Columbus day, AND making Election Day a holiday.
I'm not from nor have I ever been to New England, but what about Colombus Day attracts tourists? Is it an easy day trip for New Yorkers or something?

Awful terrible idea.  So have election day on the busiest travel day of the year when everyone is scrambling to get out of their jurisdiction to visit extended family...
Literally nobody ever travels on Colombus Day down here. We don't view it as anything more than a little printed sentence with a small picture stamped onto the calendar.
