FWIW, while I firmly oppose any type of military action against a democratically elected Government, I really don't have enough sympathy for Erdogan-no friend of democracy himself-to be outraged. This will make for some good TV, though. The constant reporting of the same developments about Trump and Pence or Nice was getting stale. What a news day!

Yes that is occuring. At one point I believe Sky News had to cut off live footage to avoid showing graphic imagery.
Yeah, it definitely was a massacre near the bridge in Istanbul. Brian Williams kept talking as if nothing happened, but when I rewound the coverage (thank God for modern cable!) I saw several people get hit, and many didn't get up when the gunfire ended. Wow.

Erdogan planning to enter Istanbul airport to adoring anti-coup crowds according to MSNBC. Judging by the chanting of the crowd and the number of Turkish flags that have gone up in the air, it appears that he might have arrived and is preparing to enter the terminal. Who the hell knows though?
