I don't like Islamists as a rule, but democratically elected leaders getting ejected by the military always make me uncomfortable.

Very much. As awful as Morsi has been, he was elected. Knowing Morsi, I think he will want to go out Allende style.

The greater evil is a president who's violently rejected by up to 48% of his population and doesn't seem to give a sh!t about it. That's the basic problem... from day one he acted as if he were only the president of the 52% who voted for him and everybody else had ceased to exist the day after the election.

That was more or less Margaret Thatcher's attitude from the day she was elected until the day she was forced out by her own party.

Hasn't Obama done that? Was Nixon not the President of the "silent majority." That's basic politics.

Has Morsi made any indication of what he will do? Or will he get the Allende treatment?

President Morsi is headlining his statement as "the final hours." Coup seems imminent.

It looks like liberty and freedom are victorious in Egypt tonight, and although the people may have won the battle, they have yet to win the war.  I'll be anxious to see what happens in the next few hours and what happens in the elections.

Yeah, because nothing says "liberty and freedom" like the military overthrowing a democratically elected President

Who proceeded to become a stone-cold dictator. This isn't exactly the democratic process, certainly, but if the military keeps its promises, Egypt should be set down that path again. It's a dangerously big "if", though.

He was still elected though. The proper thing for Egypt to do was to have the Parliament impeach him.

Hugo Chavez was also democratically elected you know. So was Ferdinand Marcos in the Philippines in his first election.

And neither of them, as awful as they were, deserved to be toppled in such an undemocratic manner.
