Eisenhower?  How so?  A decade later it gave 82% to Hubert Humphrey.

Probably because Stevenson made too many compromises with racist Southern Democrats. 

Eisenhower still only got 39% of the black vote, so no. Hoover did win blacks in 1932, but no Republican won them since.
