Biden apparently chose Michael McCabe, a DuPont consultant, for the EPA Transition.

It's really too bad that cartoon villian right-winger Joe Biden won. Who was the left of center candidate?

Expected. But people will act “Why democrats are so pro-war?” as if they were different before.

Killing Yemeni children because Saudi Arabia doesn't like Shias and arming ISIS is OK if you're a Democrat.

The foxes are running the hen house. Shame on everyone who said we can push Biden left after he's elected.

I thought Bruce Reed was going to head the OBM?

I guess the opposition from the left worked, although Neera Tanden might not have been who they had in mind.

I don't think anyone Biden was going to name was someone they had in mind, but pretty ridiculous that we have such rabidly anti Bernie people getting cabinet positions.

They really are going out of their way to find the absolute worst. I was expecting Biden to have a cabinet that could fool some really stupid progressives into thinking he's on their side, but nope, absolutely none of that.

Rahm Emanuel was also hired as an investment banker right out of the Clinton Administration for which he had zero qualifications.

He's got plenty of qualifications like telling progressives to go f**k themselves right before Democrats lose 63 House seats and covering up murders.

Neera Tanden wanted to cut Social Security and said that Libya should pay us back. Lets not pretend that she isn't a crazy neoliberal hawk.

I’m wondering if maybe names like Rahm and Reed are being floated to ensure that there won’t be any internal blowback against his actual candidates?

I think just keeping Rahm around to be rumored to run something so that when the actual nominee is revealed literally everyone is just psyched it’s not Rahm Emanuel would be hilarious.

I mean they're all terrible, but they know Rahm is a real lightning rod to deflect from their other absolutely terrible people.

I doubt the transition team cares that much about qualifications. It's worth nothing that Udall's father was Interior Secretary.

So we have Rahm Emanuel, Neera Tanden, and Donna Shalala who exist just to make the other batsh**t crazy neoliberal warmongers seem sane in comparison?

So some Iraq war general who serves on the board of Raytheon? Unsurprising, but crappy nonetheless.

To China? I don't know about that lol.

If there is any position where you need a seasoned diplomat, it would be the U.S. Ambassador to China. Not a former mid-size city mayor. Ambassador to NATO/EU would be a better fit for Pete, IMO.

Yeah, this is rank idiocy. Give him Malta and hope he never comes back.

Neoliberals always claim that they are about experience and qualifications and then appoint a small city mayor with no experience as Secretary of Transportation.

I’m a young white Harvard-educated gay man with a disability. I’m one degree removed from Pete Buttigieg. I would not trust myself to serve in any cabinet.

All of which are traits that have very little to do with Pete's political appeal (admittedly the fact that he's young probably doesn't hurt, but even that has never been a particularly important aspect of it) and nothing to do with why his supporters think he'd be able to do a good job in any number of major positions.  Your post is basically a caricature of what diehard anti-Buttigieg Berniecrats (wrongly) think Buttigieg's appeal is, no offense.

Anyway, glad to see Pete got Transportation; I'm sure he'll do a great job!

I've lived in Fort Wayne from 2015-20 and in the Fort Wayne area for almost 8 years. South Bend is about a hundred miles down the road. Fort Wayne had a 3-term Democratic mayor who started term #4 January 1st earlier this year. Everything Buttigieg cited for his accomplishments with South Bend I could legitimately say about my mayor who oversaw rebirth and expansion in a rust belt city that was twice South Bend's size, my city didn't have the rich northeastern kids subsidy that comes from Notre Dame being in town, and unlike Buttigieg didn't raze homes in historically black neighborhoods as part of the narrative. The difference between Buttigieg and my mayor Tom Henry (also a Democrat) honestly is Buttigieg was young and gay and Mayor Henry was old and straight. My mayor Tom Henry ran for reelection to a 4th term he won, and Buttigieg ran for president.

Tom Henry didn't have secret meetings with Schumer, Pelosi, and some Chinese operative about how to stop Bernie.

Biden hasn't picked a single Berniecrat, but he chooses a sh**tty mayor with no qualifications who had a crime surge after he fired the first black police chief.

Lets not act like Austin is some sort of dove. He supported the pro ISIS strategy of arming every random jihadist in Syria. We shouldn't have been arming anyone except maybe the Kurds.

So is Biden’s administration really gonna be nothing but neoliberal ghouls? All of the hacks on Atlas who said that Biden would be the most progressive president since FDR need to apologize for bullsh**tting us

Haaland and Becerra = Neoliberal ghouls?

Wow, amazing. Some of the Hillary superdelegates in the Biden cabinet won't be 100% Third Way.

Even for Biden, Garland is a pretty mediocre choice. Well, campaign finance reform is completely dead.

Was hopting he would also name a woman as CIA Director, but Burns seems to be a solid pick.

Our last coup installed a woman leader in Bolivia, so we really are moving in the way of more women coup leaders and dictators.

Very surprising announcement after Anita Dunn made painfully clear for the last 2 months that she had no interest whatsoever in actually serving in the administration:

I guess that the proximity to power is just too irresistible.

Before she was chosen to be Press Secretary, Jen Psaki was asked if she would be involved in the Biden administration and she responded "I have no interest in returning to the government". She obviously reneged on that decision lol.

These people always want power. It's like when Dick Cheney decided that the best running mate for Dubya was Dick Cheney.
