This. Cruz is a crapshoot really. It will be some random upstate county.

Hamilton isn't some random upstate county. It's the least densely populated county in the entire eastern half of the country, and is the most Republican county in the state.

It seems Kasich did well in the college student areas of Tompkins, but it was really the rural areas that are why it was Cruz's best county. I'm guessing Cruz won gun nuts.

Interestingly, Bernie's best precinct in the county wasn't college students, but a very rural area.
