Because unlike the Republicans, Democrats don't support joke candidates.
Your party consistently elects warmongers and corporatists. They are the joke. Kucinich is not. Sadly, democrats hate real liberalism, and Kucinich is the last of a dying breed.

Kucinch isn't as liberal as many assume. He was anti-abortion until shortly before his 2004 run for President,

Regardless of what you think of Kucinich's views, he was still a joke candidate. Highest elected office was the House, bad record as mayor of Cleveland, and was far more interested in throwing bombs than actually accomplishing anything.

Kucinch saved Cleveland hundreds of millions by standing up to the banks and the mafia, the later of which put a hit on him, and not selling the public utility company.
