They could try the Sheldon Whitehouse Method and say, "Look, we all love Susan Collins, but is keeping Susan Collins worth having a Senate controlled by Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz?"
The problem is that the GOP can do the same thing. There are currently 7 Democrats in Romney states and only 1 Republican in an Obama state.
Susan Collins sits in the same caucus as a man who more or less single-handedly orchestrated the first government shutdown in nearly a decade. Or have we forgotten about that?
That wasn't as bad as their using the debt ceiling as blackmail.
