I am a bit torn of the logistics of Lindsey's proposal. On the one hand, there are really only four relevant candidates at this point, so it might be a good idea to have all four of them (plus Bush, Fiorina, and one of Huckabee, Paul, Christie, and Kasich) in one debate, and leave the undercards to the earlier timeslot. On the other hand, that might be an example of the media picking winners and losers, so for the sake of fairness they could make a more equitable split between serious candidates and joke candidates within each debate (say each debate gets two of Trump, Carson, Rubio, Cruz, three of Bush, Fiorina, Huckabee, Paul, Kasich, Christie, and two of Santorum, Jindal, Graham, Pataki, chosen at random the day before). Thoughts?
I think a mix of both would be best. For some debates use polling averages, for others have the candidates be randomly assigned.
