I think it’s kind of a cultural thing that poc just don’t really get into alternative music as often. There’s certainly a lot of stigma about it and shows/bands in those genres are almost exclusively white. There are a few great metalcore and hardcore bands with poc members. But I think emo and stuff like that is just so overwhelmingly white. I can’t think of any bands off the top of my head with a black member that qualifies as “real emo”

What about Hootie and the Blowfish?

They're not necessarily goth, but I would say they fall under the emo umbrella for sure.
