An apparent suicide, too. Unbelievable. Rest in peace.

And it's a pretty wonderful thing that everyone coming in here is claiming a different movie as the one they'll be watching in remembrance. Just shows his versatility in acting and the breadth of brilliant work that he gave this world. Truly a pillar of acting.

That's absolutely not how I meant for it to come across, so I apologize for that. I agree that the article is ill-timed and too blunt for its own good. However, the article makes a really solid point that, while people are grieving about Robin Williams (which they are perfectly allowed to do) there is still this spike in police-versus-citizen violence going on. As JR said, people are allowed to be upset about both at the same time. The problem is that a lot of people are focusing only on Robin Williams. For the time being, that is appropriate. But it's more of a caricature of society at large. It is sad that we lost such a funny man to such a horrible disease, but it just seems that, in the scheme of things, Robin Williams is just the newest star to burn out. Once his demise has been milked, it's not like the horrible things going on in the world are suddenly going to receive the kind of attention that his death did.

But...uh... I just noticed that there's been no discussion about the Michael Brown shooting and its aftermath on Atlas far as I can tell (please somebody prove me wrong?).  And there's been not too much about it in the social media circles I see, compared to a lot of other recent tragedies.  Which, come to think of it, is actually kind of f**ked-up.  Don't think it ought to be out of bounds to point that out.

I only know about it because of Tumblr, so chalk that one up for the SJWs.

But this is essentially the point I was trying to make.

Apologies for my harshness, R2D2.

But forget some random blogger; if you want to see pure insensitivity, without any kind of legitimate point behind it, please welcome the King of Real-Life Trolls, Mr. Rush Limbaugh:

I saw this and had to get up and walk around so I wouldn't lose my god damn mind

Americans have a 86-8 favorable rating of Robin Williams.

That's higher than Abraham Lincoln's favorables.

Can only imagine the dark, miserable, unfunny lives those who disapprove of him lead.
