the party of feminists, fags, pointy headed intellectuals, lazy inner city minorities, evil godless liberals who want to make church illegal etc? I mean the democratic party has been around for 150 years and I'm only 27 years old, but I doubt we were always labeled this way. What caused us to be viewed as this?

Also, if the opposition is going to pigeonhole the democrats as it, why can't the democrats themselves come up with scare tactics to get people to vote democrat. If they are going to call us the party of Chuck Schumer or Barbara Boxer (read urban liberal jews) then we should label them as the party of Tom Coburn and Jim DeMint. We should try to describe them as the party of ignorant rubes whose ideas fit more in 1912 than 2012 and we should try to come up with a GOP equivalent of a "cadillac driving welfare queen" or a "pointy headed intellectual".

Fags - Harvey Milk

Pointy Headed Intellectuals - Roosevelt and the New Deal

Lazy Inner City Minorities - Johnson and the Great Society

Evil Godless Liberals - Probably numerous causes to this one. Ranges from the Warren Court to Bill Clinton to Elk Grove v Newdow.

I'll throw in:

Unions - John Kennedy and the AFL-CIO.

Agree with everything except for the unions. The republicans until this year, were careful not to demagogue unions because many of the people they were trying to win over with fags, feminists, hippies were themselves union members a la Macomb County, Michigan.
