Personally, I'd prefer a flag that is more traditional in terms of its color scheme. Two alternative proposals:

The alternating pattern of blue, red, and white stripes is derived from the Franklin Flag, the naval ensign used by John Paul Jones during the American Revolution. This references the North's history as a maritime region, as well as the birthplace of Benjamin Franklin (among other distinguished founders). The number of stripes - fourteen - is equal to the number of states in the Region. In the canton, the white cross upon a blue background with a pine tree upper left hand corner references the Bunker Hill Flag - again, an allusion to our Revolutionary heritage.

The same as above, but with fourteen white stars in the canton in place of the white cross and pine tree.

I'd back the second of these flags
