  I suppose that you could substitute Watts with a hypothetical "viable black conservative Republican."  How much of the black vote would you expect him to receive?
  I say against Obama- only 10-15% but against a generic Democrat, maybe 20%.

Chalk off KY, WV, TN, and AR from the GOP column at least.
   Why do you think a black conservative would lose those states?  First of all, Watts was re-elected by large margins in Oklahoma.
   Obama didn't do any worse than Kerry in KY,TN,WV.  He did lose big in Arkansas but I think McCain got some support from Clinton Democrats.
     PLEASE stop living in the past.  A candidate's race may have been a factor in the South 40 years ago but not now.
   In South Carolina, which is considered one of the "most racist states" by the left, how did Nikki Haley become governor?  How did Tim Scott (who is black) beat Strom Thurmond's son in the primary then crushed his white DEM opponent.
