RIP, Baroness Thatcher. While many may disagree with your policies (which I believe were the best in peacetime during the 20th Century), I'm sure most will agree the World needs more leaders that guide themselves by beliefs, not convenience, like you did.

Great obituary at The Telegraph, as you would expect:

I guess it all comes down to how you show your disagreements. As long as you're respectful, there's no problem with putting your opinion forward.

Plus, admit many people love her and her legacy, and this will not change. Conservatives better hope she doesn't become a Reagan-like ghost, to whom all members of the party will be compared.

It's easy for Americans to sing her praises as you didn't have to actually live with her or the consequences of her premiership.

A conservative-leaning Briton could say the same about a failed Labour PM. That's how politics work.

The double standard by the Right re: Chavez and Thatcher is utterly ridiculous.

On Chavez: "Good riddance to the evil Commie dictator!"
On Thatcher: "Please have class and respect the dead!"

F-ck that.
Agreed 100%

(except I think you have the details backwards....there were only a couple of poeple bashing on Chavez and the thread was only 7 pages long.  You had to get to the third page to find the second person hating on him.  I'm pretty sure there were more people bitching about "respect for the dead" than there were people bashing the dead....not quite the same in this thread is it?  But yes, double standards suck...they're just harder to see when you and your friends are doing it.)

There are more people on the left than on the right here, simple.
