"American culture" for people like Green Line basically sums to "boomer-meme gender roles plus a certain crowd-pleasing, antiseptic way of celebrating Christmas". In the political and religious realm he's clearly not concerned with representative democracy or with the President's traditional role as a moral authority within our civic religion, and in the artistic and literary realm I highly doubt he knows anything about the work of, say, Winslow Homer or Flannery O'Connor, if he even knows who they are.

I don't think either of the posters above me understand the irony or ultimately the futility of squabbling over which Side is More Responsible for our ultra-polarized, hatred-driven political environment.
