Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

The Vatican is one of the only countries in the world, if not the only, that anybody not behaving in a self-evidently suspicious manner can literally just walk into whenever they like. The fact that it has (centuries-old, historically and aesthetically significant) walls means nothing when St. Peter's Square is right there, gaping wide.

Uh... Schengen Area?

Right. Silly me, but, you know, I don't think that really detracts from the point, which is that accusing the Pope of hypocrisy on this because of what the Vatican looks like is absurd.
