Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

If it makes you feel better. But if no seats in Scotland changed hands then the Tories would have 1 more seat on the Exit Poll and the Lib Dems 11 more. And they would be able to form a coalition anyway.

It's less that I'm blaming the results in Scotland themselves and more that I'm beginning to be convinced by the idea that the Tories successfully used the SNP as a bogeyman in England.

Cold comfort, but comfort nonetheless.

Why the blame to the SNP? The problem should be pinned on Labour and their very mealy-mouthed response to SNP collaboration.

Eh, fair point. Obviously Labour itself [Inks]ed up massively.

I'd say things could be worse, but at this point, they really couldn't.

Jim Murphy may have lost his seat.

What's Murphy's seat?

I know this is just a function of what results have come in so far, but I find it really amusing that, on the BBC results page, three Northern Irish parties are currently ahead of the Lib Dems in total vote count.

Oh definitely.

Again, I'm taking consolation where I can find it.

Since Labour's not winning, at this point I'm just hoping for the most hilarious results possible.

My seat, Rutherglen and Hamilton West falls.

Congrats.

In that case Maddy, lets hope for a SNP pickup via write-ins in Yorkshire Tongue.

I'm hoping for an SNP clean sweep, Galloway hanging on by the skin of his teeth, a UUP pickup in Fermanagh and South Tyrone, Clegg getting Blanched, and at least three or four seats going to UKIP.

Who becomes Scottish Secretary if the governing coalition has no Scottish MPs?

I'm not sure there will be a governing coalition.

It seems this will be the first time a ruling party will gain both seats and vote share from the previous election since the 1964 -> 1966.   The 2 elections in 1974 would be the only other case but they are so close to each other there is no chance of anti-incumbency to come into play.

I don't think it's obvious yet that they'll gain vote share.

Sinn Fein loses South Tyrone to UUP.

Really? Wow. I knew it was close last time but I assumed that was just because there was a single Unionist candidate.

EDIT: Oh. There was a single Unionist candidate this time too.

Latest BBC projection- 325-232

1 short of majority

A majority for all practical purposes.

Unbelievable.

The Tories have pulled ahead of Labour for the first time in the BBC seat count.

In votes too.
