Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Simfan, is there any possibility of having, I don't know, Sirindhorn, or somebody else, take the throne? Vajiralongkorn's heir presumptive (because he's the oldest--and only, for that matter--child Vajiralongkorn has with his current wife) Dipangkorn Rasmijoti is nine years old; a boy king would I think be clearly preferable to a dissolute wreck of an adult, but by how much would depend partially on the regency, wouldn't it? Are there any machinations that could be undertaken within the royal family to at least take a step towards defusing the situation?

Okay, so the Yellow Shirts are legitimate right-wing blowhards. Got it.

You have a strong oversimplifying tendency in your thinking.

He is right. The yellow shirts are just upset that they can't win an election.

Of course they are. The more interesting question, the one that I think Simfan was trying to answer, is why they would want or feel the need to.

Which Prime Minister, Yingluck or Niwatthamrong?

Either way, not letting her/him do that is a vaguely disappointing move (vaguely to the extent that I still think the Thaksinites are vaguely preferable to the military in the short term at least), but not really a surprising one.

Thank God Opebo has been banned, his gloating would have been unbearable.

opebo being banned and Simfan being unbanned is shaping up to be a pretty good trade, at least as far as Thailand-related threads are concerned. With Simfan you get a generally similar slant of analysis to opebo's without the gloating, glibness, or obsession with prostitution.

I was under the question that the military by and large opposed the (in absolute fairness to the military, unbelievably odious) Crown Prince.

Well that seems incredibly terrible.
