I'm going to the first lecture to which I've been invited as a(n incoming) divinity school student tomorrow, although technically it's being held at another institution within the same regional consortium as mine.

Remind me which divinity school you were accepted to, again?

BU School of Theology. The lecture was at BC.

Ah, a UMC school.  Interesting choice.

Almost all Episcopal Church divinity schools are either far too liberal or far too conservative theologically, and those that aren't are without exception insolvent basket cases or in unacceptable regions of the country. BUSTH is in-state, has an illustrious history, has a religiously diverse student body for a divinity school, is a campus with which several family members and friends are already familiar, and unlike some places I applied (COUGHYaleDivinitySchoolCOUGH) the people there were approachable, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the process, as opposed to being distant, aloof, impossible-to-contact weirdos with self-contradictory application rules.

...left (my heart in) San Francisco, again.

For some reason I didn't realize you were back there to begin with.

This referendum is nudging me leftwards again.

The independence referendum, or is Scotland or the UK having some other referendum that's flown under my radar?

I intend to take a class next semester that master's students have to specifically ask the instructor to get into because it's intended for doctoral students. I sent her an email on Saturday and haven't heard back from her and I'm getting kind of nervous about it. I'm also a little lonely and bored, yesterday I stubbed my toe badly while hiking, I have a close friend who I'm really missing lately because I was supposed to see her soon but she turned out not to be able to make it, and getting into classical music again is making me feel bad about myself for not sticking with my piano practice when I was younger.

Woke up muttering 'but I don't want to be a pushmi-pullyu' after a heavily imagistic dream. My social life is going even worse.

Great!  I hope you can find it in your heart to indulge in all the seedy hedonism the Boston underground has to offer.

I'll take that as generic well-wishing, so thank you.

I've already told a few people this privately but I've hesitated to tell the forum at large. I'm finally going the distance and going through a gender-presentation transition. (I'd use a less queer-theory-ese term for this but as it turns out none are really accurate.)

I understand if some of the more socon posters with whom I'm friendly aren't entirely comfortable with or accepting of this but I'd like to ask that they do the courtesy of not giving me grief over it. If anybody else gives me grief over it, I'll treat it as personal attack and use the report function accordingly.

I'm very unaware of gender theory, but does "gender-presentation transition" means we should now address you as female?

Yes.

That would probably be easiest and I don't object to it as long as there's an awareness that it reflects a state of things that doesn't obtain any more. Thank you for asking.

King, I'm not quite sure how backhanded you intended that to sound, but thank you in any case.
Scott, thank you very much.
Grumps, thank you and it honestly means a lot to me that you'd offer your best wishes despite not entirely understanding the situation.

I lost my cat in May of last year. I know how tough this is. I'm sorry for your loss.
