Aren't governments in places like Florida controlling what books kids read and what kids learn in school? That doesn't sound very hands off to me. It sounds like government bureaucrats are running the education system rather than education professions.

Never too late to jump on the Trump Train!

I am not gonna vote for someone who I think has threatened our national security multiple times(Jan 6th, the Documents) and someone who I think should go to prison for that.

If Trump listened to Mike Pence after 2020 by dropping out after losing the election and blaming the media(both cable news and social) for his defeat rather than the stolen election bs, as well as returning the documents when asked, then I could see my self backing his 2024 bid. Those two things did not happen though , and I just cannot overlook them.

I know we disagree, often vehemently for my part, on a great deal (including both DeSantis' chances and what sort of President he would be), but much as I dislike Republicans overall, there is a huge quantum gap between Donald Trump and every other GOP candidate, including Ronald DeSantis: Donald Trump is utterly unfit to be President, in a way that no other candidate who has not held and abused that office can possibly be.

While I find the chances of DeSantis' winning the White House to be vanishingly small to the point of non-existence, if he is somehow elected, he would be legitimately be President (even if one I would certainly despise). Donald Trump, alone in the Republican field, has already disqualified himself from that office in every way save the most technical legalities.

If more Republicans would have the basic respect for our country to take OSR's position, it would be a key step to putting our America back on a much needed path towards sanity. I thank him for being willing to take a stand against the Trumpist tide.

The only issue where DeSantis is more sane than Trump is election denial, and even that is increasingly questionable. Maybe Russia/Ukraine as well though Rob has sounded increasingly Trumpist on that front lately.

Unless the end all be all of sanity for you is whether a person accepts the results of the 2020 election, there is no way that DeSantis would put our country back on a sane path. The man governs Florida like a far more hateful and also far more competent version of Trump.
