UPDATE FOR WEEK OF AUGUST 20-26TH. TV ad spending last week (Aug 20 – 26)

Barack Obama +SuperPACs spent $11.9M total, compared to the $12.0M total they spent last week, while Romney + SuperPACs spent $22.6M, compared to $21.9M last week. This is the second week this summer that Romney has nearly doubled the amount of ad spending of the Obama campaign. Until last week, spending between the two campaigns was roughly at parity.
Out of 210 total television markets throughout the country, the 5 that saw the most spending were Washington D.C. ($3.3M), Denver, Colorado ($2.3M), Cleveland, Ohio ($2.2M), Charlotte, NC ($2M), and Las Vegas, Nevada ($2M). The Tampa, Orlando, and Columbus markets weren’t far off.

In the swing-state of Virginia, Obama + SuperPACs spent $2.1M last week, while Romney + SuperPACs spent $3.4M
In the swing-state of Iowa, Obama + SuperPACs spent $923K last week, while Romney + SuperPACs spent $1.6M
