Atlasia has months of tradition for gay marriage.   This is clearly damaging to our society.  Gay-challenged folks such as us can civil union all we please, but marriage is between one man and one man here in Atlasia.

So... are we legally married or not?  I'm confused...

Rin-chan

You are married.  In Atlasia your marriage is now legally defined as a civil union, per Article 2, Clause 2 of the act listed below.  Smiley

I will be challenging EarlAW's law in two months when I move to the Northeast because it is simply illegal according to the Atlasian Constitution.

However, I will say that I was long in support of giving the powers to define marriage and divorce to the Regions, rather than the federal government.  That would give EarlAW the power to do what he is presently doing.

I would also note that EarlAW voted against allowing the Regions to establish uniform laws on Marriage and Divorce, creating a highly amusing little conundrum.  Smiley

I would read Atlasia v. StatesRights here and my Elimination of Civil Marriage Law and Establishement of Civili Union Act, especially Article 2 for clarifications on what I am saying above.

I did? Or was this part of some sort of omnibus bill that I may have disagreed with other parts?

The federal Civil Union standard that we have now is perfectly acceptable and appropriate.  I do hope that the citizens of the northeast region would not sacrifice the civil union rights of gays and lesbians in the southeast region just so that the northeast could use the religious term "marriage" in their laws.
