How cliche do you have to be to think of this as some stalwart battle cry for the freedom of man? The book--with the political machinations by various government members for power over a crumbling, delegitimized bureaucracy--was far more interesting. The film is simply "1984" with a happy ending. This crap is so Bush era.
EDIT: In light of the Catholic connection, I have to say I am now more proud than ever to be born on Guy Fawkes Day.
