Cathcon, what, precisely, is your major? Poli-sci? IR?

Double major in political science and criminal justice studies.

Why is everyone in the region complaining about weather? I love gray skies.

Now I know how Al felt when Rochambeau's was roaming around...

Why do you choose to communicate like this?

Power's out due to ridiculous winds, and my family's residence is still in flux, so I'm chilling with my housemates while we wait this out. I'm tryin'a get into my workplace tomorrow to recharge my devices and do laundry. Need to buy more essential clothing- I'm running out every 6 or less days!

Nice. My mom was a sociology/criminal justice double major.

It was actually Foucaulf who suggested to me I might want to pursue sociology later in life as opposed to, say, a doctorate in political science. The "comparative politics" I tend to pay attention to actually happens to be sociology, and criminology as well happens to fall into the discipline.

I think you mixed up people here. It was DFB then Ebsy who first made that comment, and I think I only thought it was funny or something.

Ah. You are nevertheless still a boundless source of inspiration.

1. Paid for formal tickets today for myself and one other. Time to identify who that one other will be and ask her. Also gotta find someone to split a hotel room with. The latter of the tasks gives me the jitters for whatever reasons. Part of me is saying to just Uber to the site and then Uber back; I really don't want to do that.
2. The snow here has been glorious.
3. As I begin to pour over my thesis, I'm noticing errors that I'm sure at least one committee member will pick up on. I wish I had caught these before, but I was in a rush and had read through it once before submitting it. My bad, but whatever. I'm rereading it in order to write my presentation. I disdain powerpoints and hope I can get away with speaking and a chalkboard when necessary. My mom is apparently getting the day off work to come down, and I'm trying to get some of my brothers to show up so I don't look like a complete piece of garbage. It's two Fridays from now. I may also have to buy slacks or something (for both this and formal). I pledged myself to a nicotine and tobacco free-year, so I hope this crap doesn't make me crack.

I think my thesis presentation (just a very abbreviated version of my thesis that I can deliver like a speech--I hate Powerpoints and I assume something will go very wrong if I use them) is almost done, but I am simply unable to think today. Going to try again later today, but I think this'll be waiting until tomorrow. Going to try to squeeze in some grammatical revisions and then next week will be preparing for Friday. I have this, five final papers, and two exams separating me from a bachelors degree.

Have I ever said how much I hate the alt-right?

I believe it was your buddy Classic that proclaimed once upon a time that he was part of the "Milo wing".

The chair of the CJ department just told me that he thought I was a far-leftist. What have I done!?

Also, this history chair seems to have a love affair with Kurt Eichenwald. Very disturbing.

That is literally the exact opposite of Cathcon's ideology.

Please, explain my worldview to me.

Careful apathy cultivate with denial of factual evidence based on some apathetic sincerity.

Example?

-It looks like I'm wearing corduroys, a flannel shirt, and a gray jacket I bought from Salvation Army for $2.50 my freshman year to my last undergraduate formal. The last suit I was bought was for a funeral in 2010, when I was shaped differently, and my tux last year was rented. I have no reason to expect anything from my date, so I might as well be comfortable and have fun.
-My thesis defense went well; I can't think of any particularly important details regarding it.
-Saturday was my last time going through composite pictures.
-Sunday I received two undergraduate awards, but nothing particularly spectacular; basically just celebrations of my cumulative GPA. The award for either of my majors eluded me until the end.
-It appears I've been accepted to my graduate program.

-Last undergraduate formal tomorrow.
-[insert reflections on a couple my age living together]

-Addendum: I concluded today that I'm in the wide swath of people that lack the social energy to wait tables or otherwise "perform" for a living, whilst at the same time I lack the requisite training/skill to have a job where I'd never have to speak to customers.

After a very productive day (10 pages single-spaced typed in 3 different papers), I now really believe I can do this. That said, as of Monday I have 2 weeks until my first final. My last final is the day after.

Phone interview went well today. This company's turned me down the two previous summers, but I have an honestly good feeling about this. The bad feeling is that this is a night job and, while it probably pays more than the job that I have lined up, and while it has some form of tuition reimbursement, and a better commute, that single fact is a bit horrifying. Given my own introverted tendencies, I don't know if a night job would suit me well. I guess I'll wait to hear about compensation (if I even make it to the next round of interviews) and then have a bit more informed of a decision in front of me.

In other news: two final papers down, three to go. Two in-class exams, one take-home. And that's a bachelors degree with nine extra graduate credits.

At my last undergraduate formal, I was granted the "Brotherhood Award"; I'm up tonight for "Greek Man of the Year" from campus. We'll see how that goes.

Got the piece of paper. Yay.

Meanwhile, with how it looks right now, three papers down, two to go!

Got turned down for the one job, which means I can safely focus on the other one. Can't wait to work and move outta this dump (housemates have been indulging since early afternoon, #RIP).

Mere minutes into the Netflix series "FRΔT STΔR" and it is rife with, not only stereotypes, but absurd exaggerations.

This, but with "13 Reasons Why"
My sister and mother are addicted to this show.

Yeah, all my friends are tweeting about it incessantly. I guess I kind of get it, since I haven't really been able to peel away, but the premise is just really depressing, and since I'm not a part of the cliques that are constantly involved in drama I can't able to relate much.

"Humans" are bombarding social media with references to it as though the rest of humanity is supposed to know what it's about by simple reference to the title. Presumably, it is preachy.

Kalwejt, that looks like quite the find!

In any case, it looks like my last week of undergrad will be spent wasting away in Hawaiian shirts while I devote minimal hours of the day to study. I will also be contacting my (hopefully!) future employer this week.

Submitted what will hopefully be the last two undergraduate political science assignments of my career and emailed the man who will hopefully in a few weeks be my boss. I've only got two finals. Organized Crime looks easy, but the professor is hard; by contrast, Russian looks terrifying, but the professor grades easily. Regardless, by Tuesday evening of next week, I will have completed a bachelors degree, along with 9 total graduate credits.

-I registered for graduate classes yesterday.
-One of my housemates and I (veteran occupants of fraternity housing) are both graduating and had been planning on finding a place with two of his friends. Their lease, however, is up soon so they have been forced to go their own way, which means, if anything, us remaining two will also end up splitting a place. As neither of us have our employment situations straightened out, I have no idea how long that will take. Meanwhile, I'm hoping to start saving for graduate school, so God-willing the job situation takes care of itself soon, and I don't mind moving in later. We can either keep crashing at the house we're currently in at radically reduced cost (compared to what one might ordinarily pay to rent), or I could even move home temporarily (or permanently--hopefully it doesn't come to that).
-My hopefully-future-employer emailed me back today. He said he's looking to hire around mid-May, which means I'll likely be pulling 35-hour weeks at the school like last summer until further notice. If, as outlined above, I stay in my current house or I move home, that will allow me to save more effectively, but if I'm not hired, all this is essentially for naught.
-The ideal situation in all of this is that A) both of us get the jobs we want/need; B) I manage to scrape by with a four-point again at the end of this semester; C) I am hired above the minimum starting rate; C) I manage to live not at home, but we only grab a place starting in, say, August.
-Strange personal life development.
