Mainly positive.

The public was unsure of what to make of the accidental Cathcon presidency. Made Acting Secretary of State mere weeks before and named designated survivor for the State of the Union, few had expected him to ever occupy the Oval Office. It quickly became clear he hadn't either. A former feds "spook" and later academic, his mannerisms were unaccustomed to dealing with soundbites, and preferred a combination of sarcasm, self-deprecating humor, and obscure vocabulary to effectively communicating with the media. His admission that he was officially undecided as to whether the West ought to play as significant a role as it had, that a theocracy might have "sociological merit", and reference to a member of Congress as a "self-hating liberal weenie" did not sit well with the modern political lexicon. Immense spending on infrastructure and vague declarations of "implementing a program of national greatness" would be the chief policies. He would ultimately lose to a candidate he referred to as "the neoliberal posterboy for acceptable absurdity" who would "lead us, unquestionably, down the path of rationalist atheism that so doomed several other purportedly 'modern' countries."

Appendix:
Notable quips would include, in conversation with the Democratic Senate Majority Whip, "Of course, sure, we can discuss male privilege all day, and obviously some changes need to be made--particularly with regard to the balance of household labor--but that can't really be legislated, and what I'm willing to budge on will never be enough for you, so I don't see why we're here. You can meet me at the range by six."

Con's retirement would be notable for his authoring of a tome of comparative political sociology comparing the divergent paths of Germany and Russia, along with frequent competition in 5K foot races.
