Stark is the man. It's amazing how right-wingers get so upset when something is said that doesn't toe the Bush/Republican line.

I don't think that is why they are upset.  The line that a President is letting our men and women to be killed for his or her amusement is disgusting for a Congressman to say.  If he left off those few last words from his statement, this wouldn't have ever registered in the media.  Now, you have a few in his own party distancing themselves from his comment.

hahaha . . . well, you got to give Stark some credit with his pseudo-apology:

"I hope that with this apology I will become as insignificant as I should be."

Holy crap, someone is saying that Stark was forced to apologize, or he would have been censured. Since every single Republican voted to censure him anyways, it wasn't the Republicans who were threatening him there. Nancy Pelosi would rather censure a member of her own party for speaking the truth about Mr. 25%, then censure Mr. 25%. I strongly disapprove of Pelosi.

What do you expect from the 11% Congress?  (Got to love how Bush is twice as popular.)

You do know that is that only because most Democrats hate the Congress for not ending the war right?

Does it really matter?  Most people hate Congress for many different reasons.  The war is just one of many reasons in history, and it won't be the last.  However, if you are interested, you are more than welcome to use my old "Congress Sucks" signature.  Tongue

So Ron Paul voted for censure?

US politics are such a joke.  Pete Stark is the only man there who represents the common view, and that is exactly why he was almost censured.

He was being censured for just a few words he used, not his message in general.

If you're not allowed to insult the President, you might as well not bother pretending to have free speech rights at all.

There is nothing wrong with insulting the President in Congress (that level of decorum has been gone for about 80 years now).  What he said was beyond that, and as such, Congress had no choice but to push for a censure, similar to what happened to Durbin a few years ago with his remarks.  He, however, realized his mistake early and apologized before it became a big issue.
