While South Park is totally unfunny complete f[inks]ing filth. No comparison.

Don't derail your own thread by comparing the Wire to South Park....

Yeah I'm nearing the middle of Season 2 now. Actually I think this one is kind of right wing, makes unions look corrupt and willing to defend criminals in their ranks. Kind of krazen-esque.

Given that most of the storylines are influenced by David Simon's experiences as a storied journalist, I would assume there's some basis in fact there. Not all or even a majority of unions obviously but there are certainly some that take part in some shady business, especially in old-time industries like dockworkers.

No one is above reproach on the Wire, and that is a major reason why the show is so brilliant.

He's sort of based on O'Malley, but also very different. One of my favorite characters though (and that's saying something, because 99% of The Wire characters are great).

Agreed, much like the guys that played McNulty and Stringer I was shocked when I found out the guy that played Carcetti wasn't American either.

BRTD if you have finished it what were your thoughts on the rest of season 3?

So now McNulty talks to Barkesdale's mother and is quite convinced correctly this wasn't a suicide. To be honest this is an interesting plotline development but it feels like it should've been done a lot earlier. This is all old plot stuff at this point. Then again a lot was happening near the end of season 2 so there might've not been enough time.

Also I kind of wish that episode had more Omar.

Have you seen why they played back that old plot line yet?

No, I got caught up in things like visiting ND for a bit and some job hunting I've been doing.

I'd watch at least another episode tonight but I have a job interview fairly early tomorrow. Probably will tommorow night after work.

Putting the Wire on hold in the middle of Season 3 is like a sin.  I was going nuts waiting the week from episode to episode  Good luck tomorrow btw

Just got done watching season three myself for the first time, you should definitely finish it up.

Doesn't get much better than the end of season 3

I understand that you've been busy lately but I don't think I've ever heard of someone taking this much time to watch Season 3. I plowed right through that season.
He is taking longer to watch Season 3 than I did when it was actually airing.

Oh man Stringer Bell. That was definitely something you wouldn't expect or see coming.

He was a pretty terrible person on balance though, so I can't say I'm upset or anything.

Expect the unexpected is a good way to describe the Wire
