Is this some atlas stereotype? I figured white, male, young, but why non-straight? New here, just curious.
It's been the case for a long time on Atlas that (more or less) 50% are LGBT. Perhaps the strangest statistic of the forum's demographics.
I think it's because gay guys are more likely to be single since there's less opportunities out there, so they have more free time to read up on election data and maps.
Also, in my experience, politically inclined young men (even conservatives in the South) seem much more likely to be interested in politics. Makes sense, D.C. is one of the most gay-friendly cities in the country and I've always heard older gays describe politics as a "rainbow collar" profession.
