Dietzel raised 64k, 53k COH. No idea what the benchmarks are.

Thank you Miles.
I guess the 2016 LA senate election is probably open?

Yeah, though Vitter will appoint the placeholder if he wins the Mansion. Curious to see which Pubs will run for the open seat.

Miles gets his wish: SCF endorses Maness in LA-Sen.

Add Jindal to the mix too, he has a mutually poisonous relationship with both senators. As for Sabato calling LA-Sen Lean D, I'd agree that's a tad premature.

We all agree that a runoff is necessary for a Pub win. For now the question is whether Landrieu can hit 50 in the jungle, but way too early to know that. The easiest way to fully nationalize is making Landrieu 51 by winning +5 in November and LA being the deciding vote, which wasn't the case in 2002.

Rothenberg thinks Cassidy's being underestimated.

Who's underestimating Landrieu? Cassidy's problem for now is base enthusiasm, not money. I think he'll get it by next summer. He 's solid- not perfect from my POV, but solid. Unrealistic to hope for a star, much less superstar, in every race.

Pinsonat thinks Landrieu's swimming upstream, but some Pubs are worried about SCF. I think a runoff is a better strategy myself. Maybe if Angelle had been the candidate I'd say a jungle-only one... but even then difficult considering Landrieu's high jungle floor.

Cassidy was a Dem before entering politics, but says he's admitted he was wrong then, unlike Landrieu. Not surprising given his background and generation, as I told Miles a while ago. Nor should it be a BFD.

So he'll be the third Pub in the 6th. Seems like a fairly quiet campaign for now.

I'd also guess Dietzel's the frontrunner. A guy who could go places, if he wanted. Tongue

Curious to see how NC turns out. Could be a sleeper if Pubs get their act together, since it is definitely competitive on paper.

LA: As Landrieu herself said, you can unelect her if you don't like her voting record.

Somehow I doubt Politifact will make a difference in this race.

Again, Erickson is right about that. All the red state Dems voted for it, they own it and are now panicky.

SMOR will release a LA-Sen poll later this week. Maginnis thinks that now the atmosphere is too toxic and "she'd be a goner" if the election were held today.

Landrieu and Hagan voted for partial nukage, not that I think it'll be a BFD in their races.

Cassidy's campaign manager needs to grow up. He calls her "MussoLandrieu" and accuses her of participating in a fascistic endeavour.

Immigration or any other specific vote is a symptom, not the cause, as Pinsonat points out.
