Romney's probably the smartest candidate the GOP has put up since Nixon, and I think Clinton has more intellectual depth than the current guy.

And yeah, with the possible exception of 1796 and 1800, I don't see how any modern election can beat 1912 in terms of sheer brainpower. 1916 was also an election between two clearly intelligent individuals.
